Darlene Battles was born in the small town of Wynne Arkansas.She started singing in church at the tender age of 5.She became interested in Country Music and moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where she played and sang in local night clubs with such artist as Jerry Lee Lewis, Barbara Fairchild and others. She was in the Lakeland Talent Contest where she competed with around 500 others and won the top female vocalist leading her to move to Nashville, Tennessee,where she sign a booking contract with "The Joe Taylor Booking Agency" She then worked with such srtist as Dottie West, Tammy Wynette, Tanya Tucker, Gene Watson,Ray Pillow, The Jordanaires, Stella Parton, Little Jimmy Dickens,and many more.
Then in the early 70's Darlene met her husband Jerry Jaye, who recorded such hits as "Hello Josephine" in 1967, then went on to record the top country song," Honky-Tonk Women Love Red-Neck Men" and many more chart records. Darlene and Jerry toured over the United States, London England, France, Germany, Wales.They went on to record an album together in the 80's.
In 2003, Darlene surrendered her life to Jesus Christ. She is a member of "The Good News Jail and Prison Ministry" which is known across the United States. She travels over the country to jails and prisons to preach, sing and tell her testimony of how Jesus changed her life. She has seen many give their hearts to the Lord.Darlene also has another ministry in which her pastor, Brother Howard Summers, turnrd over to her. The American Thrift Stores, where she goes to bring the word to the employees and the public.She is also a member of the gospel trio "On Call". When Darlene is not out on the road, Darlene and On Call perform at all demonitations of Churches, gospel sings, and Homecomings.
Darlene has recorded 4 Gospel C.D.'s and working on a new project as of this time. Her group On Call also have out a C.D. and are currently working on a new project of original songs.Darlene also has out 3 Sermon C.D.s that she recorded inside the jails and prisons.
Darlene is a motivational speaker, singer, soon to be author, preacher who goes wherever the Lord Leads her.
